How can I get my xbox 360 online with a wireless signal.?

My landlord gave me her wireless access key so I can use the internet downstairs. I have a laptop that picks up the signal but now I would like to get on xbox360 live. I can not run any wires through to her apartment. The internet is highspeed and a strong signal, what if possible can I do to get xbox live?How can I get my xbox 360 online with a wireless signal.?
You can buy the wireless adapter, but it sounds like you are basically saying you want to hook up your Xbox to your laptop. I answer this question a lot, so I am just going to do a cut and paste from my webpage of frequently asked 360 questions.

';Can I hook my Xbox 360 to my laptop to get Xbox live?';

';Is there a cheap alternative to buying a wireless adapter?';

';I want to use my laptop as a portable router for my Xbox.';

';Can I use the wireless connection on my computer to connect to Xbox Live?';

This is the most common question I am asked. The answer is yes. You can connect your Xbox or Xbox 360 to a computer or laptop that has a wireless connection to the internet. Some people will recommend using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) but this is not a good idea. It is much better AND easier to bridge the connections. Don't worry, I'll explain how.

I am going to explain how to do this in short easy steps, and these steps work for both XP AND Vista, so there is no confusion.

1. Connect your Xbox360 (Or original Xbox, PS2, another PC, whatever) to the ethernet port on the back of your computer.

2. on your computer, hold the windows key and press R (The windows key is the key with a windows logo on it, typically found between the left ctrl and alt keys by the spacebar. On laptops the location can vary)

3. A 'run prompt' will open. Type ncpa.cpl and press enter. This opens up a window called 'network connections'

4. If any of the connections listed have internet sharing enabled on them, remove the sharing. I'll explain why at the end.

5. Hold the left mouse button and draw a box over the local area connection (Your ethernet port) and the wireless connection. This will highlight them both.

6. Right click on one of the connections and select the option 'Bridge Connections'

7. Windows will do it's thing for a few seconds and a new connection labled 'network bridge' will appear. Your work on the PC is done and no wireless key needs to be entered.

8. Reboot the 360 and you are finished.

Network bridging is a great but little known windows feature that allows you to connect different network types to work together as one connection. This is how you can use the wired connection (to the Xbox) and the wireless connection together without having to do any manual network settings. People who are unfamiliar with the network bridging feature will advise people to set up Internet Connection Sharing (or ICS) on the PC. In fact, many other sites will tell you to share your connection, yet these sites also have hundreds of comments saying they have IP address conflicts, or fail the IP test on the 360. This is exactly the reason I keep telling people not to use Internet Connection Sharing. Internet Connection Sharing is basically an alternative to using a router because it turns the computer into a DHCP server. The problem is that the wireless router is already acting as a DHCP server on the network. A DHCP server is what gives a computer its IP address so it can connect to the network and to the residential gateway (The internet). Without going into a long winded explanation, you can now see the potential problems that may occur. With ICS, you are setting up your computer to give out IP addresses, when the computer itself got its IP address from the router which is also handing out IP addresses.

You can set the IP address on the wireless adapter manually so it does not get an IP address from the router, but then you have to set up the router to make sure the computer only uses one certain IP address. Then you have to set up the router so the same IP address is not given to any other device on the network. Long story short, it's much easier to use network bridging than to use ICS.How can I get my xbox 360 online with a wireless signal.?
I came across your Yahoo! Answer after trying ICS on my laptop using Vista, and it worked immediately! Every other Google answer I tried recommended ICS, but it just didn't work since I got Vista (I used to have an laptop using Win 98 where the ICS worked fine) Thanks for this quick easy fix!!!

You need an adapter. You can use the official one that costs a hundred bucks, or...you can buy the official one from the first xbox. That is what I use and it works just fine.
You need to buy a wireless adapter. Microsoft makes them for about 100 bucks.
