Do I need the microsoft messanger kit for th xbox 360 or is it pretty easy to txt online with xbox 360?

I want to know if I should buy a microsoft messanger kit for myself. I am getting an xbox 360 elite late next week. Just want some advice if I should get it or not. Is it pretty easy to txt right now on the xbox 360? How do You txt on the Xbox 360, like how do you get to each letter? So I would appreciate any answers to this.

The messenger makes typing messages a whole lot faster. It still is pretty easy to type without it though. Its like typing on any system, its just a screen with all the letters on it and you move to each one. But I guess if you want to talk to friends through messages its would just let you send the message faster. Hope I was of help!!
