PS3/Xbox 360 online gaming questions?

I've never really participated in online gaming except for when i first got my 360 and had the free trial, so i don't really know how it works. I think with the 360 you can buy one of those cards at Best Buy, or wherever, and activate an xbox 360 live account and play any game. Is that correct? I'm not certain with the PS3. I bought the system last week and tried to go online with MGS 4 tonight and ended up being asked by the publisher of the game, Konami, to pay them. Is that they way the Ps3 online gaming works? Do you pay for each game or publisher you want to play online? If so, that sucks as you will be nickeled and dimed to death. Can someone explain to me how this works and how i should get started on both the PS3 and 360?PS3/Xbox 360 online gaming questions?
I had the same problem, I thought you had to pay to get on MGO, you don't, you have to pay for extra characters, but your first is free, and it is not a trial, it is free forever, you only have to buy another account if you, say, forget the password, and if your guy has a bad record you can delete him and get a new one and start out fresh, you can only have 1 free charcter at a time. No no other publisher does that so don't worry and yes you can buy a card from Best Buy for LIVE, but PS3 online is free, or if you wanted to you could buy LIVE from your 360, which is much easier. The PS3 blu-ray player is good as well, but it is the same as a DVD player, pop a disc in and enjoy.

Hmmm, sounds strange, maybe it was for something else. Anyway the PS3 has free online, all you do is create a free account and your good to go. Now the Xbox 360 you create, or already have an account and then you can either use a card you bought or pay through credit card.
no you dont pay for ps3 its just that game


i've played call of duty for a long time without that happenning and yes you buy a live card for x box but you have to buy more for when they expire
Well i own a 360 and i think that xbox live is a great way to play your favorite games. It is also a great way to keep in touch with friends and meet new people. The new xbox live experience is also very entertaining. You get to make very own avatar and you can even stream netflix from your xbox. There are many more different types of feutures like buying games and movies online in the xbox live market place. The live cabibilties also give you the option of downloadable content such as extra maps or more sounds for Guitar hero.





Now for ps3...





i don't know much about it besides it is free and it sucks. Yes you can browse the web and yes they are releasing new features. BUT it is nothing like the xbox live experience. You don't have a friends list or dashboard or anything like that.





So i recommend to go to best buy and buy the membership card and join xbox live. You could also do ps3 network but i don't recommend it.
