Well the laptop way is the most annoying pain in the world. But if you can't afford an ethernet cable (which just plugs directly into the back of your Xbox 360 and into the back of your router; around $20-$30) or an Xbox Wireless Adapter (plugs into the back of your Xbox 360 and connects itself via wi-fi connection; around $75-$100), then I guess you don't have much of a choice. Have you already tried the laptop way? What happened? I need a little more info to help. Add some details and I will edit my answer.How do i get my xbox 360 online?
Windows XP %26amp; Vista Instructions

On your laptop open your Internet connections

Choose your local area connection (Wired Connection) and your Wireless connection (So there both selected at the same time)

Right Click on one of them

Choose ';Bridge Connections';

Once they bridge together when you turn on your Xbox the Local area connection should turn from dissconnected to connected and you should be able to sign into live
You need a ethernet cable or you can buy a wireless adapter ( xbox 360 ) you will find the wireless adapter in a game shop.
you have to have an actual internet connection. seems like you do not have one.
