As for, paying for Xbox live gold. Just buy a subscription card from Walmart or somewhere, with cash. Enter the code, and you automatically get Gold.

Im not sure how to get the free month, but you dont have to put it on a credit card, Walmart, best buy, those kinda places sell cards you can buy for the same price.
To get one month for free create an Xbox Live account and sign up for Xbox Live. You will have to enter an email adress and all that. You do not need a credit card for this.

with cold hard cash
i suggest going that route
then just scratch it, and enter the code to redeem your card
u need a credit card if it is a deal where u pay for 6 months and get the first month free.
