You can't go against someone, you can just play co-op with someone.
Go to your Pause Menu.
Down to Logbook.
Then click Options.
It will say something about orbs, click public or something.

You cant actually play online and see loads of other people but you can invite one of your friends (if you don't have any friends, no offense) to play in your world.
