Just got the 120 gig 360 and i have the ethernet cable. My computer is abuot 15 feet away though and i wondered how exactly i would hook it up. Just buy an extra long cord or do i need a router and must the router be compatible w/the 360 etc. I have dsl with the modem on top of my puter. Do I need to go wireless cuz of the distance or do I opt for a long ethernet cord or what. Appreciate all answers but could use a bit of detail so i can do it right. If you're going for online gaming, which you probably are, then I wouldn't go with wireless. It's not quite fast enough, somewhat unreliable, and all you need is a long enough ethernet cord. That'll get you speed and reliability.
And trust me, they make ethernet cords long enough. I have an ethernet cord running on the wall from the upstairs to the downstairs.How to hook up xbox 360 online?
dsl modem dose it have Ethernet plug points if so just use long cable to hook up 360 then sign up using 360 to live

There should be an open ethernet jack on your modem that should hook your 360 to the internet. And unless there is new technology i haven't heard of, the 360 cannot connect wirelessly. Go for the long cord which can be found at Radio Shack and maybe Gamestop. Good luck!
