Can you tell me about Xbox 360 online?

Im going to be getting an Xbox 360 soon and I want to be able to play online with it but im not sure WHAT I NEED or HOW TO SET IT UP. If you could please explain What i need to be able to play my Xbox 360 online along with prices,tips or anything else i'd really appreicate it. You connect your xbox 360 console to your router via an ethernet cable (also known as LAN/Network Cable). It will automatically connect to the network. You will need to purchase a Xbox live 12 months gold subscribtion to be able to play others on the internet. This will cost around $99AUD but you will be able to get it cheaper off eBay. But when you first create an account on your console, you will receive a 1 month free trial for Gold. I suggest after this month, you purchase the 12month gold subscribtion. This is a one-time payment. In the 12 month gold subscribtion pack, you will receive a code which you enter in on your console. But there should be detailed info inside the box. In some of the packs, you will also receive a headset, so you can communicate/talk to others and send voice msgs.This can only be done when using a Gold subscribtion.





The silver membership, which is for free, also allows you to connect your xbox 360 to the network, but you will not be able to play others. You will still be able to download contents off the Xbox Marketplace, and send msgs on your console to other players.
